TCF Canada writing checker
Write a task in French and the AI scores it like an examiner: points out of 20, your NCLC level, every mistake explained and a model answer.
Free: 5 checks a day. We don't save your text.
How the TCF Canada writing test works
Expression écrite lasts 60 minutes and has 3 tasks. Examiners give one score out of 20, and IRCC converts it to an NCLC level.
- Task 1: a short message (60-120 words) to a friend, colleagues or an organization: describe, explain, invite or ask for something.
- Task 2: an article, blog post or letter (120-150 words) about an experience and your impressions.
- Task 3: an opinion text (120-180 words): sum up two documents with opposite views, then give and justify your own opinion.
TCF Canada writing score to NCLC
| Score /20 | NCLC |
|---|---|
| 16-20 | 10+ |
| 14-15 | 9 |
| 12-13 | 8 |
| 10-11 | 7 |
| 7-9 | 6 |
| 6 | 5 |
| 4-5 | 4 |
For Express Entry, NCLC 7 or higher in all four skills can bring extra CRS points and makes you eligible for French-language draws.
Questions
Is the checker free?
Yes. You get 5 free checks every day, no sign-up needed.
How accurate is the AI score?
The AI uses the official TCF Canada criteria: task completion, coherence, vocabulary and grammar. It's a practice estimate that shows what to fix, not an official result.
Can I use my own topic?
Yes. Tap My own topic and paste the instruction of any task, for example from a practice book.
Does it work for TEF Canada?
The checker follows the TCF Canada format. The TEF tasks are different, but the feedback on grammar, vocabulary and structure helps there too.
Do you keep my text?
No. Your text goes to the AI only for the check and is not saved.
